How to show decimals in a percentage of a Pie Chart?

By default, if you create a pie chart in Microsoft Word, and set the level to be ‘Percentage’, it ignores the decimal points and displays an approximate round number. But if you need to show decimal to 1 or 2 numbers it might be difficult if you don’t know where to set it.

Say I have studied on 38 children and among them 21 were Low Birth Weight (LBW) and 17 were Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) infants. I want to show it is a pie chart with percentage to two decimal point.

If I insert a pie chart and provide my values for LBW and VLBW  infants, Microsoft Word provides me with such a pie chart.

As we can see, it just showed straight 55% and 45%. But if you want to show decimal to the given percentage,

  1. Double click on the number on the pie chart.
  2.  Under ‘Chart Design’ section, select the ‘Label Options’.
  3. Under the ‘Number’ section, select the ‘Category’ as ‘Percentage’. Then enter your preferred decimal places and check the format.

Yes, it’s that simple. Congratulations that you have done it.
